‘For we walk by faith, not by sight. ‘
2 Corinthians 5:7
The term, “Faith” is widely and loosely used among all people. You hear one say, “Keep up the faith.” Or “Just have faith…”
In fact, there has been an overwhelming saturation of positive, “light and love” messages that may sound good to some. But really, is this really a good thing.
Extremes have always been a part of human history. From the legalistic judgmental religious “Christians” to now, the liberal, “Anything goes” grace believers or what they call them, “progressive Christians”. Whatever side of the pendulum you view this, God is the same, “yesterday, today, and forever”, and that’s the peace and comfort we can believe and have faith in.
So here in lies the true question. What is the definition of “faith” to you? As mentioned before, the word “faith” is loosely coined. But if you dig deeper and ask the real question, “What do you have your faith in?”, there you will find some rather disturbing and troubling reality.
After some digging you’ll see that one’s declaration of, “I just got to keep the faith” really means, I believe in myself and I’m going to do this. Now don’t get me wrong. Confidence is not a bad thing. However, confidence with the exclusion of God being our source or believing in “self” vs. trusting and relying in God is the true problem. Satan had that problem and that’s what got Him kicked out of heaven.
Or the other phrase, “You got to keep up the faith”. What “faith” is being defined here? If fellow believers are encouraging each other to “keep the faith”, we are instructed to do so in the Word of God as to mean, “brother, keep believing that God supplies all of our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” This is Christian biblical faith and is based on scripture, Philippians 4:19.
Some also say, “I have faith too.” But they have faith in Buddah, Mohamed, Aliens, or whatever else but Jesus. That is not the Christian faith. Jesus said:
‘Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’
John 14:6
This is the point where I lose someone that wants to believe in anything and/or everything. There is no, “I believe in Jesus, but…” Or “I believe in the bible, but…”
The Two Factors of Faith
Although scripture tells us that we are to walk by faith and not by sight, there is the rest of the bible that has already defined what the Christian faith details.
As we already discussed, Christian Biblical Faith is based on believing in Jesus as our source and confirming it with the bible, His inspired Word to us. Anything outside of this falls into the “other” faith that is very dangerous. This other faith is inspired by humanism and new age thinking. It’s either you believe in yourself and/or some other entity that is not God or you totally exclude God from the picture and you then become God. Both are wrong and both ultimate alienate you from having true relationship with God and excludes you from benefiting from all of who He is and His benefits.
What you’re seeing and hearing
‘So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.’
Romans 10:17
The other faith factor is what you’re listening to and hearing. Faith comes by hearing. Hearing what? Well, this should be an indicator of where people’s faith is coming from. The term garbage in garbage out plays true here. If you hear garbage and bad things all the time then you’ll produce a bad attitude, probably be contentious, angry, irritated, sad, etc…
But the Word of God tells us that true faith come by hear and “hearing by the Word of God”. Basically, the Word of God and what He’s saying should be our primary listening when it comes to our faith.
Guard What You Hear
It is so easy to get caught up with listening to the news and what is being said. First of all, filtering out liberal media that have political anti-God, anti-Christian, anti-morality news outlets should be the first one’s that we intentionally and actively shut down from reaching our ears. We are responsible for what we hear and see. That includes movies, tv shows, and news.
If your watching CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and other major networks then you’ve already started at a losing streak if living a biblically grounded faith because much of what they say is propaganda and is an extension of the voices of liberal anti-God individuals in politics, government, and other evil leaders.
We’ve even gone to the point of filtering out and limiting our viewing of Fox News as they have leaned in liberal stances.
Yes, this sounds political because it is. But the reason why the Christian cannot be silent on politics is because politics has made an agenda to attack and silence Christianity. They’ve come in to the Christian realm and invaded the Christian’s domain. That is why you have such a thing as “progressive Christians”. The two does not go together and it is nothing but a carnal Christian but probably worse as to the point of being “enemies of Christ”.
So What Do I Listen To?
First of all, you should be reading and listening to the bible. Read the scriptures out loud. You’ll be hearing the Word of God and build up y our faith.
We’ve made a decision to watch the Victory Channel specifically Flash Point and Victory news. And even Victory News, although they’re doing news in the spirit of faith, sometimes can dissuade you from seeing and hearing what God is really saying.
‘Surely the Lord God does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.’
Amos 3:7
Hank Kunneman of Lord of Hosts Church has been one of the most relevant pastors that I’ve heard today where God is speaking and calling the church to come back to Him. He doesn’t stick his head in the sand and continue on as nothing is happening bad in the world. But he, also as operating in the office of Prophet, prophesies what God is speaking to the church and gives His perspective and news on what God is saying.
Many are crying that these are the last days. But really, the last days talks about Jesus coming back for a glorious church. The church is not in the right state of being glorious right now. Also, Jesus gave us a list of things that He said would happen before the end comes. The last one being that every person on the earth will hear the gospel.
I like to call the mentality of “Lord take me now. Come back Lord” as an escapist view. Jesus told us to make disciples of all nations not sit and wait for my coming. We are the one’s that are supposed to make sure that all nations hear the gospel.
‘Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. ‘
I Thessalonians 5:20-21
The bible tells us to not despise prophesies but test them. The true prophets have been absent from the 5 fold ministry but God is bringing the full office back to the church including Apostles which are actually #1 when it comes to His ministry hierarchy:
‘And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. ‘
I Corinthians 12:28
Another one of our favorites is Elijah Streams on YouTube, Kat Kerr, one on Elijah Streams, Pastor Hank Kunneman, and Robin Bullock.
I’ll come up with a list of people that have been speaking and prophesying and things have and are coming to pass.
Please do your own research and do your own thinking when it comes to your Christian walk. God tell us to not be ignorant but know His will for our lives. That means that we’re responsible for what we listen to and subject our selves to.
Hope this has been a blessing to you.
God bless you.
With Love, your brother in Christ
